The Summit Sling from Cloudsplitter designs is a bag that looks complicated, especially while cutting all the pieces, but actually comes together very nice! Unless you reverse a piece...which I did NOT do this time!
|
Not the best pic, but apparently the only full front one I grabbed! |
The fabric on this bag is from a group that has now closed, which is sad because it's hard to find good Mulan fabrics! I paired it with a lilac grunge print fabric, which is my favorite style for lining and accents. The grunge has some interesting 'texture' look to it, but it's not totally plain so it also helps to hide any small goofs when I sew. Plus, it just looks cool.

Grunge accent to cover the top zipper, and ears zipper pull |
I don't have any specific Mulan zippers, so I went with some general Dis inspired ones, like Minnie ears, a castle, and the fireworks over the castle zipper pulls. I'm pretty sure they all came from
Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts, along with the rainbow hardware and the Phoenix fire zipper tape!

Catching the shine on this castle pull |

All the rainbow! |
One of the best features of the Summit Sling is that it has pockets inside the pockets! The front pocket has card slots and a slip pocket.
|
I usually skip the card pockets, unless they are requested |
Inside the main compartment is another zipper pocket and a padded slip pocket.
|
The zipper pocket is pretty hidden |
|
The slip pocket has padding, to give a little extra protection in case you want to carry a tablet or small laptop |
Plus, there's another zipper pocket on the back that will be secure against your back as you wear it!
|
This one is against your back so I went with a smaller zipper pull |
This bag is surprisingly roomy for being so slim! I have so many other fabrics that would be super fun on this style of bag, just need to get
orders or find some free time to sew up extras!
|
Look how pretty that Phoenix Fire zipper is! |
