Pac Man Inspired Armour Tote - Pattern Testing For The Styled Magnolia

One of the great things about testing patterns is that I get to pick whatever supplies and accessories I feel like! The Armour Tote from the Styled Magnolia is a relatively quick bag with a lot of space to really show off a fun fabric, so I picked some Pac Man inspired water resistant canvas from Backstitch for the outside.

I did view A, with one gusset pocket, and the center divider options. I think next time I'll do the B front pieces to do it all in one big piece, with the A gusset to get the fun pocket, and definitely keep doing the center zipper pocket! The gusset pocket is so fun and really fast to make, but adds a lot of wow factor.

Sneaky gusset zipper pocket, perfect for quick access!

Since I was digging in my stash for supplies, it ended up that NONE of my hardware matches. I only have Silver O rings, but I did have an awesome Pac Man zipper pull in gold. He's 3-d, and HEAVY, but so fun! I put him on the inside to protect him, and also because I was afraid the weight would pull the gusset zipper pocket open.

The only other zipper pull I could find that was even slightly related was a rainbow circle. That went on the gusset zipper, and I think it works!  This bag is all about fun anyway, so it didn't need to perfectly match.

All closed up, the zipper kind of blends in

The bag closes with a magnet, so it's a fast access one with a little bit of security. The zipper pocket inside really makes it work, since you could put important stuff in there and not worry about it falling out if you throw the purse around. My lining fabric is some red dotted grunge from my stash, which was a bolt I bought from Joann's.

The pattern has instructions for a shoulder strap, but it would be super easy to add a connector and switch it out for a cross body strap. Since I wanted to give a little contrast, I used some vinyl from my stash to make the bottom gusset, which gives it a little extra protection.
