Squish Mabel (Swoon)

I don't often make little bags, but this one turned out super cute! This was one of my earlier vinyl purses, and it helped me get over my sewing vinyl intimidation! The Mabel from Swoon is a fast little free pattern

All the fun and colorful animals!
Back of the bag
There really isn't much to this bag, it's all about the shape and style. There is one inside pocket, and that's it! I used Fairy Frost fabric for the lining, it has such a perfect amount of shimmer for a little girl's purse!

Of course it needs rainbow hardware!

You can almost see the slip pocket in the front
The outside is a squishmallow inspired vinyl from Backstitch. Yet another reason I'm sad that the company isn't still around! For the hardware, I used rainbow Buckle D rings and clasps from Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts. The seatbelt webbing is also from Wizardry, Stitchery and Crafts, and I really love how it speeds up making the strap without sacrificing style!

The strap goes long enough for an adult to wear it!
I really should have included something in the pics for scale, to show how adorable it is!

It's not as tiny as it looks here, I blame the camera angle. I don't have giant hands.
The only change I made to the pattern was to skip the final topstitching. I was worried my sewing machine would skip stitches and chew up the textured vinyl. The vinyl does hold the shape nicely, even without the topstitching, and once the inside has stuff in it, the lining should stay in place!

Maybe I should use my vinyl to make more of these little bags!

This one was quickly claimed after I made it, but I do have a bunch of other fun vinyl designs that would be perfect for this style bag! I think I'll add more of these purses to my never-ending 'in my free time' list!
