This is the May - Floral Wars Peregrina Backpack

Every year around my birthday, I try to do some 'selfish' sewing and try new patterns or make myself a new thing to replace something that is wearing out. Back in 2022 (yes, I'm THAT far behind on sharing), I made the Peregrina Crosspack with some gorgeous lavender Floral Wars fabric from Knitorious Fabrics! Then I had to wait for a perfect May the Fourth (be with you) to share it, but somehow I missed it again!

On this print, R2 is my favorite!

This adorable bag has some nice features, and it converts from a cross-body to a backpack pretty easily. I used a lavender seat belt webbing from Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts for my strap, but I wouldn't suggest it on this pattern. It's slightly TOO soft and slippery, so it slides around when you grab the strap anywhere. I had to make an effort to grab both sides of the backpack straps when I was using it that way to make sure it didn't all slide to one side. I think using a thicker/rougher strap fabric would be better, or maybe looping it around the slide area would work to give it enough resistance to stay mostly in place.

I used a pretty fairy frost fabric for the lining, so it has some shimmer but didn't shed glitter!

The Peregrina opens super wide, with the a large zipper, plus it has lots of zipper pockets! I was able to dig into my collection and use almost all my favorites! The black and light purple zipper tape (also from Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts) matched the strap and fabric perfectly! I can't remember where all the different pulls came from, probably a few different shops or mystery packs.

I really like the option to use it cross body or as a backpack, and it holds quite a lot for the small size! It was just slightly too small for carrying my kindle or books around, but it holds lots of other things. I didn't get a picture, but after a while of using it, I made the padded handle from Lind's Handmade (free pattern) and that helped to keep the straps from sliding around, plus gave it a little extra protection on my shoulder when I was wearing it cross body and had it jam packed full of stuff!

My two little models

They are too cute! And the bag too!
