I admit, when I saw the preview pics for this bag, I thought it was just another huge tote bag, but I was so wrong! Instead it's an adorable little handbag with a TON of pockets! The Boxed Bliss Handbag from ChrisW Designs is the latest pattern release, and Christine has gone back to her super pocket bags!

I used photo magic to make the handles stand up, which I'm not great at, so don't look too close LOL |

A little closer pic |
It seems like lately all I've tested are simple purses and wallets, which are fun and fast, but even though this one looks super complicated, it really isn't! The hardest part for me was picking fabric, and then wrapping my head around the fact that piping and cording mean different things to people in other countries. (This one uses cording) I asked my FB group (Tiger in a Tornado Creations) for help picking what fabric to use without letting them see a peek of the pattern, and they were only a little bit of help...they narrowed the choices down to 3 very different options, but what ended up deciding me was needing to have matching strap webbing on hand so I could finish it quickly. This Tula Pink fabric is kind of wild, but so pretty!

Top view, the zipper gussets open wide! |

Peering inside, nice and roomy! |
I am burning through my seatbelt webbing from Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts! It's so easy to work with and matches so many of my fabrics, plus they have zippers that match! I would have done lilac webbing, but that's my favorite and I'm down to scraps!

The rainbow rose is the closest flower match I found in my stash |
The Boxed Bliss Handbag has a TON of pockets. On the outside there is a hidden phone pocket beside the zipper gusset.
 |
That black hole is the phone pocket. Or for keys. |
Inside, it has pockets on both sides! The vinyl overlay side has 2 zipper pockets, 4 card pockets, and a cash pocket behind the card pockets. I used a pretty lavender glitter vinyl from Wizardry, Stitchery, and crafts, which is a little thicker than my usual vinyl, but I didn't have to pull out the workhorse machine. My Brother PQ1500sl was able to stitch through it and only tried to skip a stitch here and there. The zipper tape matches the vinyl, and is another one of my favorites from W,S&C.

So many pockets! |
 |
Trust me, super glittery! |

Pre-assembly pocket pic |
The other side of the lining has a fun pocket pack style, with a gusset pocket, thin pen pocket, another little pocket, a pocket behind the little pocket, and a big pocket sewn into the lining fabric! Since this is a smaller purse, it's hard to see the pockets. Fortunately I remembered to take in progress pics!

The other side pockets |

Very roomy! |
It would be super easy to add any of these pockets to another purse pattern, and they are perfectly sized for most medium handbags! I might have to make more of this style, it actually came together pretty quickly and I'm sure the next ones will be even better! Be sure to check out the pattern while it's on sale for just a few more days (The Boxed Bliss Handbag) or message me for your own custom order!

One last look at the pretty outside! |

The handles do what they want |
You sew an awful lot of bags and this is gorgeous! I do like this design and all of the pockets, plus I love totes.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It really is a fun bag, and the pattern was pretty easy to follow.
