Upcoming Events!

Just a quick update to remind you of all the awesome things coming up in the next month!  (Which is TOMORROW!)

Hack-a-Bag-a-Thon in the ChrisW Designs Group running July 1 to July 31.  Some AMAZING prizes up for grabs!

New Bag of the Month Club starting TOMORROW!  It's a Swoon pattern, so I can't wait to see what it is!

Weekend Sew Along for the Blue Calla Wisteria Wallet - I'm a little insane and thought it would be fun to sew one up this weekend. (hopefully Stormy is back from the Sewing machine doctor) This is supposed to be a fast pattern, but it's always more fun to sew with friends!

Anyone know of anything else upcoming for July?  I'm sure there are more fun things going on that I'm missing!

WIP Wednesday - Feeling Lonely

Apparently I've been overworking Stormy too much, so he decided he was going to make a horrible noise and randomly move his needle to the right...which I'm pretty sure is not a good thing for a sewing machine to do!  I took him into the shop last weekend after he broke several needles trying to sew through what normally wouldn't be an issue...the top stitching on the Kiss Clutch I'm working on for the Random Stash Challenge in the ChrisW Designs FB group!

Stormy's home...looking so bare and lonely.  And linty.  Maybe I should clean the mat...

Sugar Skull Style Brandt's Boulevard

This really is a fun pattern to make, and once I sit down and do it, relatively fast!  The pattern is Brandt's Boulevard by ChrisW Designs, part of her Easy Street line.

I wish the skulls were side by side and not offset!

WIP Wednesday - I'm Caught Up?

I must be forgetting something, I'm never caught up!  It feels like I should have something I need to be making...I do need to mail some stuff out, but it is all finished!

Mario dress and pillowcase? - check.
I'll see if my model is willing to do a photoshoot.  But I'm not holding my breath...maybe the birthday girl will send me a pic

India By Swoon - Hobo Bag

I saw this pattern a few times, but it never really caught my eye.  I like things with more structure and shape, and a slouchy hobo bag seemed too 'easy' so I never even put it on my list.  This year my son had an AMAZING teacher that totally got him and they just clicked in the best way.  His teacher gives off a mellow and relaxed vibe, like a hippie, so when he picked the hobo bag for her, I wasn't really surprised.  I think it will fit her style perfectly and he even picked out the fabric, some from my stash that is an older Alison Glass print I found at the quilt show this year.

The front fabric matches the sunflowers!

WIP Wednesday - Trial and Error....Lots of Error

Last week Urban Threads released these awesome crafty badges so of course I NEEDED them.  But I only got one size, so I'm trying to justify buying the other size by actually stitching them all out!  I've done 9 out of 14 and the sale ends Friday, so I am on track to have them all done!  It's probably the fastest I've ever used a design set!

all my 'mistakes'  some have more than one per patch...

Tote Purse - Perfect Little Gift

I could have sworn that I made a post about this purse already, but this is a VERY basic pattern I came up with for a last minute gift, and it's great sized for elementary aged kids.  Nothing super fancy to it, but it does show off some fun fabrics and neat snaps!  I'll try to make a tutorial for it, eventually, but until I have a free minute and make another one (so I can get in-progress pics), here's a look at the three I've already made.
The one that started it...and I didn't have time to get nicer pics since it was last minute!
Second one, with fox print lining and golden Snitch snap

Sporty Strap Pack - On The Go Bags

For Christmas my awesome husband got me the On The Go Bags book (and I only had to send him the link twice!) but I haven't had a chance to do more than thumb through it and dream of having spare time to make most of the patterns, which includes some organizers and other neat things...One of the ones I knew I'd eventually make was the cover bag, a one strap style backpack/purse.  Then the authors decided to run a sew along and I was hoping I'd be able to squeeze in one during the event, just because deadlines mean I'll get things actually finished!

WIP Wednesday - Almost Caught Up!

And by almost caught up, I mean I only have 4 orders/gifts waiting for me to finish and send them out!  That's the most caught up I've been in a while!

Embroidery my son picked for his teacher.  And then my oldest said it looked like a giraffe on this fabric...which gave me an idea for another project...

Yarnit! or, Things That Make My Life Easier

I'm a sucker for new crafting tools that will 'help' me be faster or better...and the Yarnit is one that is actually doing that!
Late night pic, sorry!

Pattern Testing - The Lunar Collection by ChrisW Designs

Once again I was lucky to be able to test a pattern for Christine before release - Her pattern for the Bag of the Month Club.  It's pretty AMAZING!  And because she's insane (in a good way!), there are THREE sizes to this pattern.  I went for the medium size (Half Moon) which is still large enough to pack for a trip to the Moon!  I'm definitely going to use this one as my carry-on the next time we take a trip, but since we don't travel that often, I'm not sure if I want to use it as my work laptop bag or my crochet project bag in the meantime... or just gaze at it and pet it... I thought about selling it, but I don't have any giant bags of my own...
