Geeky Love - Snap Tabs, Key Chains and more!

I love being able to show off tv shows and movies that I love, but without it being a HUGE IN YOUR FACE type thing!  The keychains and snap tabs are perfect for that little nod to everyone else that loves the same stuff and will recognize what an Adipose is, or where this symbol comes from...

WIP Wednesday - Wait, where did June go??

This is the last Wednesday of June!  I'm not ready for July, too many birthdays (including my own) and too much heat!

I did get a lot finished last week, not everything I wanted, but more than I expected!  Snap tabs galore, about 10 doodle pals, tons of bows...now back to sewing orders!
(Anyone need a snap tab/key chain?)
(Little hand sized stuffies for coloring!)

Crochet Time! Finally finished something!

It seems like lately all I've been doing is sewing and embroidery, but when my 5 year old decided she was going to learn crochet this weekend (she can chain, sort of!) and then decided she needed slippers, I decided it was time to break out the hooks and get to it!  I found a simple pattern at Hodgepodge Crochet (with slightly confusing instructions since I didn't actually go to the links or watch the videos - so my own fault) that I was able to use to whip out a pair of slippers in no time.  And "no time" means at least 4 hours, while watching tv.  ;)
(First Slipper finished!  cute and simple)

UFO/WIP Wednesday - Craft Show Season Already??

I always think of November and December as prime craft show time, but now you can find shows in the summer, spring and fall!  Fortunately for me, my crafty partner in crime takes care of all the details and all I have to do is throw finished stuff at her.  Unfortunately for me, that means I need to have finished stuff to throw at her!  That means a few nights of frantic cutting, sewing and gluing to finish up everything I've been slowly making over time and stashing everywhere.  I like the making part of the process, but finishing rarely happens because I'll get distracted by new projects.

(Bows, felties, hair combs, snap tabs, and ornaments ready for assembly)

A Fun Little Pouch With Zipper and Wrist Strap!

I was asked to make a zipper pouch to match the latest Necessary Clutch Wallet, and of course I had no luck finding a pattern that I liked.  Instead I decided "It can't be that hard" (famous last words) and just started writing measurements down and cut like a fiend.  Now that it is together, I know what I would change (shorter zipper pouch, wider over all, different assembly) and I will try to make a tutorial for it soon-ish...

And I apologize, my camera doesn't know where to focus on this fabric, but I swear just about every picture I took of it ended up blurry.  At least you can get the general idea...and when I do a tutorial, definitely using different fabric!

UFO/WIP Wednesday - Catching up on sleep

I usually push myself and don't go to bed until close to midnight, which makes it rough to be up for work by 6 a.m.  Every so often my body will rebel and I either get sick or just crash and sleep.  This has been a week for sleep!  Hopefully soon I will be back up to my usual level of productivity, but this sleep thing is kind of nice. As a result of this 'sleeping' thing I've been doing, not much has been finished this week.

I did manage to stitch out a few of my newer bows (apologies if you saw it already on Instagram or FaceBook!)
(There are several in there...olaf, Mickey and Minnie, Cinderella, Game of Thrones, Tardis, Crochet, Tinkerbell, swirls...)

Kiss Clutch - Quick Teacher Gifts!

As the end of the school year approaches, I always have great plans to make something special for the teachers that have survived nurtured and enriched my kids.  And as usual, I wait until last minute to make something.  This year I found the adorable Kiss Clutch by ChrisW Designs and it seemed cute and more importantly, fast!

Lunch Time! Barbie Insulated Quick Zip Lunch Bag

I bought the Quick Zip Lunch Bag pattern a while ago from the Dog Under My Desk website (last year or the year before?) and some PUL to make a wipe-able interior but as is my sometimes habit, never got around to it...Finally I had a birthday request to use some AWESOME Barbie fabric we found at Joann's and knew that the lunch bag would be perfect.

(Barbie through the years, the 80's exercise Barbie is AWESOME!)

WIP Wednesday - June Already??

How are we halfway through the year??  School is almost out for us here and summer is coming!  In a fit of insanity, I decided Monday to make 3 teacher gifts by Friday.  I chose the Kiss Clutch by ChrisW designs, it looks nice but should be fast!

I let my kids pick the fabrics for their teachers (but I did have some in mind if they didn't choose!)
(Tula Pink True Colors fabric, so pretty!!)

The Penny Inn - June Bag of the Month Club Pattern

I got a jump start on June's Bag of the Month club thanks to being chosen to test the pattern for Christine of ChrisW designs!  It's a good thing because I don't know if I would have made the time for it until much later in the year otherwise!  The pattern looks complicated and involved, and with so many pages of pattern it is easy to get overwhelmed, but this is a GREAT pattern!  Read it through a few times, and then jump in, you won't be disappointed!
