WIP Wednesday - Delayed for Birthday Shenanigans!

I had plans to post yesterday, but the day flew by!  I took some time off of work to spend just relaxing and enjoying the anniversary of when I turned 21 (I won't say which anniversary...). I did get in some selfish almost sewing...it was more selfish cutting and pattern matching, with sewing to come soon.  ;)  And I even cut into my hoarded Tula Pink Octogarden.  I only got one bolt when they reprinted it, so I'm down to under 8 yards now!!  Whatever will I do??

Sewing Machine Review - Janome HD3000

If you've followed along with my sewing machine woes, you know that I had to put my Juki in time out until I am willing to spend (a lot of) money to get him fixed.  For slightly more than I'd spend on the repairs, I got a brand new machine.  This is my first Janome, so I'm getting used to the differences.

WIP Wednesday - Time To Get Back In The Groove!

All the pressing stuff got finished in time, so it's time to get back to sewing and using up my stash of fabric!  I'm looking forward to giving the new sewing machine a real test and coming up with a name for it...something solid and dependable sounding.

Since last week and weekend was focused on the birthday party, I didn't get a chance to work on much of anything, besides a few more embroidery things and LOTS of cleaning.  This week I've already jumped back on the Wisteria wallet, but haven't gotten very far because I also have to set up the sewing area again.  I'm trying out a new setup, but I am not sure it's going to work any better than the last one.  I'm also trying to organize my supplies as I set them back up...I have a lot of random supplies...good thing I bought a new cart at Ikea!  (that I still need to put together...)

Maybe you've heard a little about the new game that came out?  The one where you wander around outside like a zombie and try to catch imaginary creatures?  ;)  I admit I'm one of those zombies, but I haven't had much time to play since everyone I know is doing it at 2 a.m. and at that time of morning, I'm either asleep on the couch or asleep in bed...or I should be at least!

WIP Wednesday - Embroidery fun

It's almost time for another birthday party, which means that we need to do some sort of major home improvement project at the last minute.  This time it was replacing the desk that is a catch all for random stuff with one that has better storage and closes up (hides the mess!).  Unfortunately that meant pulling everything off the old desk, and piling boxes (yes, 7 boxes) of stuff around while I moved the old desk out of the way and built the new one.  The good news is that I will finally have a big enough storage spot for bolts of interfacing!  The bad news is that I still have to go through all those boxes of random junk and decide if any of it needs to be saved...which is taking longer than I expected.

Hummingbird Dress by RabbitRabbit Creations

I avoid making clothing when I can, mainly because arm holes are tricky, and hems are the devil.  I can sew mostly straight on a purse, but give me a swath of fabric that needs folded up and made into a hem, and I suddenly can't sew straight!  However, when I get a request for a dress for my niece, I give in and give it a try!  The pattern my Sister in law picked out was the Hummingbird Dress by Rabbit Rabbit Creations, and it's a very cute and easy pattern!

WIP Wednesday - or Work Not In Progress

It looks like Stormy is going to the great sewing machine graveyard in our basement...at least until I can bring myself to spend a lot of money to get him fixed up... but as a result, no sewing happened during my vacation.  I did get some crochet worked on at least...and cut out 3 Wisteria Wallets...
