Sometimes the hardest part of testing a pattern is picking a fabric! I have so many different ones in my collection, but for this one I felt like the purse needed to be pretty AND fun, so I pulled out my hoarded Tula Pink fabrics. The Celestial Curve from ChrisW Designs is such a quick and cute bag, with great shaping and minimal hardware!

I think the slightly limp plants give it a 'walking with dinosaurs' feel |
I was a bit behind on this pattern test, so I benefitted from everyone else finding any tricky parts or typos in the pattern and was able to breeze through making mine! The pattern is quite simple for one of ChrisW's, with only a zipper pocket and slip pocket inside, but still a great bag!

New lightbox, probably should have used some backdrops, but the reflection is kind of neat. |
The fabric I used was from a few different lines of Tula Pink, the Dinosaur is from Roar!, the black hexis came from the Slow and Steady line, and the lining is from Pinkerville. I love how all her designs and colorways mix and match! On a bigger bag this might be a little bit TOO overwhelming, but on this adorable bag it was perfect! I buy my Tula fabric from a few online quilt shops, mainly because the closest one to me that carries (a very small selection of) Tula Pink is in another town...
Something Quilty and
The Fabric Candy Shoppe both have great customer service and gorgeous fabrics!

The 'other' side |

In sunlight, love this fabric! |
Inside, the purse has a zipper pocket, and a slip pocket that you can have some fun with! I cut a piece of the dinosaur for that pocket, with the outside accent fabric. I think it turned out kind of awesome.

Oh, hello there! |

Using up my stockpile of the boring zippers for inside |

Nice and roomy, for such a cute little bag! |
This purse takes minimal hardware, and if you don't consider zippers actual hardware, it takes NONE! I found this rainbow dinosaur zipper pull in my collection, but I have no idea which group I got it from, or if I picked it up in a destash... I only have a few, but I'm trying to use instead of hoard, so it went on the bag. I don't think there will be a more perfect bag for this zipper pull, actually. The Night-Mare zipper tape from Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts was a perfect match and gives the purse a little extra bling!

Perfect zipper! I only have a few rainbow and silver ones left |
|
You can kind of see the awesome iridescent colors on the zipper |
One fun feature is that the handle uses boning, which gives it a great shape and it doesn't fall over time! I think if you actually broke the plastic it would fall, but it has a nice springy-ness and really stands up! |
A smooth curve, and I didn't even have to do anything to make it stand up! |
The pattern for the
Celestial Curve was just released, and it comes with a video guide, plus you can also get the svg file to cut the pieces on a scan n cut or other cutting device. Someday I'll pull my scan n cut out and try using it to cut pieces, but for now I just cut everything by hand using a rotary cutter. I'd love an excuse to make another one, and I might try a few just to list up in the shop or the group since it's such a fun bag, but if you'd like to special order one, I'll be taking more custom orders in the new year!

One last pretty pic! |
