Berserk Carter Messenger Bag - Knitorious Fabric and Swoon Patterns

I got to play with some of the new fabric from Knitorious that is open for preorder for just a few more days! The Anime round has a bunch of fun designs, and so many bases!  I haven't watched Berserk, but according to my local experts, this fabric is pretty great. This was my first time using nylon repel, but I can definitely see myself using it again! It was a little slippery, but the thicker backing on it meant that I could skip one layer of interfacing and save a little time. I decided that this fabric needed a bold design to show it off, and found the Carter Messenger from Swoon!

I played around with my photo editor to try to get a better background than my new lightbox

I only had a small piece of this fabric, so I tried to use it as much as I could for this bag. Directional fabric limits how you can cut pieces, but it does look pretty awesome! This was my first time making this pattern, and I was on a tight turnaround deadline, so don't look too close! I think I got one of the straps on the top a little crooked, but I'm going to hope that with use it will get less noticeable. I used some red vinyl I picked up at Joann's for the accents, and since I was just slightly short on the main fabric, added in a red grunge dot (also from Joann's) to the lining. It doesn't exactly match the straps, but it does coordinate!

My tag almost blends in on the back!
The Carter has minimal pockets -- really only 2 compartments inside and a zipper pocket in-between. I raided my stash and found a perfect skull zipper pull from Wizardry, stitchery, and Crafts, along with their gunmetal buckle D ring, connectors, and black seatbelt webbing. The zipper tape is a gunmetal/black one, also from there, which really completed the look!

The red lining is not quite that bright in person, but my camera decided it should be

Looking down into the divided inside

The top handle is pretty...handy. ;)

Look at the fun details!

I went with the magnet closures, and it has strap keepers you can tuck the ends into so they aren't flapping around.

Laying flat-ish.
Make sure you check out all the amazing Anime (and Wicked!) designs running just until January 8th!

It really is a pretty sweet bag!
