Trek Edgy Essence Wallet - ChrisW Designs Pattern Testing

I love a quick sew, and ChrisW has hit it out of the park with another fun and fast wallet! Someday I will get out my Scan N Cut for these, which I'm sure will speed up the process about 100%, but for now, hand cutting doesn't take that long and still works! The Edgy Essence Wallet is a prettier raw edge style, with fun swoopy details.

A simple wallet, with a fun finish

and you open it up, BAM! Card slots galore!

Back is very simple. I probably should have put my tag on, but I totally forgot!

I cut into my newly arrived debossed vinyl from Thumbs and Thimbles for this test, and I'm sorely tempted to keep the wallet for myself! I probably should, in case there were some wonky stitching spots or for um, quality testing. Yeah, totally should keep it for myself.

"Debossed" means the pattern is pressed into the vinyl, not popping out, apparently. It's gorgeous either way!

This wallet has a ton of pockets, without having a ton of pieces to cut! There are 9 card slots, an ID slot, a zipper pocket, and 3 money sized slip pockets.  My youngest was like "Money... receipts... what's the 3rd one for?" I told her it could hold a checkbook, but she looked at me strange and asked if people still used those. I write a check at least once every 3 or 6 months! I guess it could also hold a thin phone, but mine has a pop socket on it that makes it slightly too bulky.

Used my business cards to show ALL the pockets, it kind of worked

The pockets are snug, but you can more than one in each pocket if you are a card collector like me.
I even found a fun snap in my collection that was engraved with the same delta, but I have no idea where it came from since I've had them for many, many years! Same with the zipper pull, but I think the next ones I make will have a narrower zipper, this one has to be positioned just right to close the wallet easily.

The snap is a very light blue with white Delta, which of course doesn't show up well in the pics.

Somehow the best shot of the zipper pull, from an 'in progress' shot

All closed up, not super thin, but not super bulky either
After I took the pics, I decided to try edge coating. I'm still working on this skill, but it does help to keep the layers all together and give it a more finished look. It probably needs several more layers because my thick base decided to dry up since the last time I used it. It's not perfect, so obviously this is now my wallet!

My giant clips also work as a drying stand between coats

It's a black edge coat, so it blends in mostly. I only got it all over my hands a few times.

Be sure to check out the Edgy Essence Wallet pattern, which is available with the SVG files AND a video! Or, if you want to order one of your own, contact me to discuss the available materials!

One last shot of the fun wallet!

  1. Great job! But I'm trying to figure out if you know the significance of the print on your vinyl (and snap & zipper pull), since you refer to it as "delta"...? I think there are a lot of Trekkies out there who would pay good money for that wallet!

    1. Thanks! Yes, I know ;) It is an inspired fan art print, so I am trying to be careful not to make claims about it being a 'real' product. I decided to keep it for myself and do some quality control testing, but I do have more of this fun vinyl to make custom orders!
