Supernatural Flash Art Aurora Sling - Knitorious Fabric and The Styled Magnolia

The newest pre-order round from Knitorious fabric is "What's on the Telly" and it has some gorgeous options! I think this one is probably the prettiest Supernatural inspired fabric I've ever seen!

Driver picks the music, ALWAYS!
I do love me some pie...
The nylon resist fabric is a little slippery to work with, but it also has a small bit of texture so it's not impossible to work with. I used pins for most of my sewing, but I also try to keep them in the seam allowance, so they don't have the chance to leave holes. Since it's not vinyl, the holes can close up, but I don't know how it affects the water resistance of the fabric.

The gusset was barely wide enough for my bigger tag
The Aurora Sling has 2 sizes, and this is the bigger one. It's still not huge, but definitely could hold a good amount of stuff! I skipped the front zipper pocket because this fabric is too awesome to hide. The back has a slip pocket, perfect for a phone or sunglasses!
I usually wear my bags over the left shoulder, but I forgot to flip the pocket, so this is for right shoulder wearing

I avoid binding whenever possible, so I changed the inside finish and made it all turned, but it still looks really nice. For sewing it turned, the first change I did was to not sew the outside and inside main pieces together. Instead, I sewed the outside to the outside gusset, right sides together. Then I sewed the lining to the lining gusset (right sides together), but left the bottom open. The opening was just the straight area of the bottom. Then I trimmed the corners with pinking shears, flipped it, and checked the seams. Once I was happy with how they looked, I turned it back inside out and sewed the lining and outside top together inside the seam allowance where the main pieces attach to the gusset. This keeps the lining from sagging down without showing any extra stitches. I then flipped it back to the right sides, and stitched the bottom shut. I could have hand sewed, but I was being lazy. Also, the bottom of the slip pocket mostly hides the stitching. My lining is some shot cotton from the scrap pile, which is very thin but the colors are amazing!

The teal fabric is a great match!

The buckle variety pack I purchased from Sewful Therapy is really paying off, I'm amazed it so perfectly matched both the fabric AND the zipper from my stash! The zipper pulls are some I purchased LONG ago from Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts, which is also where I got my black seatbelt webbing and buckle D ring that I used for a connector (it doesn't show up in any pics).

I'm glad I have a stockpile of these zippers, so handy!

Are you a fan of the cute little bags, or do you need giant ones like me? I'd love some feedback on what styles are the 'best' since I am planning on making some ready to ship ones for Etsy
