When I got the half yard of fabric for the 'What's on the Telly' round Knitorious to use for my strike, I was worried I wouldn't have enough to make 2 projects. I used less than half of that for the Aurora Sling, and then I needed to find something that would really show off the awesome design of the print, so I decided to make a simple tote bag. At the same time, a new test for a Zipper and Phone Slip Pocket from ChrisW came along and needed testing, and it was PERFECT to spice up the simple tote!

| I think this is the front. It's the fanciest side at least |
 |
| But this side shows the amazing designs more... |
There can never be enough pockets in a purse for me, so this really helps solve that problem! Some designs are super cute/pretty but very minimal on pockets. The overlays come in several shapes and 2 widths, so you can use them with a lot of different designs!

| Peek under the flap |
I used black tooled vinyl from My Punkbroidery, which is a mid-thickness vinyl with some amazing texture! The overlay has a slip pocket under a flap for more security, and a zipper pocket. I used some stash supplies for the red zipper tape and a Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts Supernatural zipper pull, plus a Supernatural snap that probably came from another group that has since closed down.

I was trying to get a shot of just how deep the pockets are, but all I had handy were some big scissors. These are what I consider 'normal' size, not the super giant or little ones, but hopefully it helps a little to visualize it! I didn't even stick the scissors all the way in, but they would actually sit all the way down in the pocket and not show out.
 |
| Now you see the scissors |
 |
| And now they are peeking out at you. I did take a pic of them fully in, but it looked just like the pocket without anything in it, so not that helpful LOL |
The fabric on the outside is nylon resist, so I didn't even need any interfacing for it! Since I wanted the tote to stand up and be lightweight, I decided to use foam. The inside fabric is shot cotton, which is a gorgeous saturated color, but the thinnest cotton ever! I did use SF101 on it, but I fused the foam to the lining instead of the outside and that caused me SO MANY wrinkles!! SOOOO many. I tried to iron the bejeebers (technical term) out of it, but that just made the wrinkles sharper. Lesson learned, don't use fusible foam on shot cotton as a lining! I probably should have attached it to the outside, but I was concerned with too much heat causing the nylon to melt or warp and didn't want to risk it.
 |
| I tell people that wrinkles add character, but usually I mean my clothes.., |
 |
| At least I used one of my tags! This bag may indeed be haunted! |
Be sure to check out the new pocket patterns (and they include SVG files!) and grab some of the gorgeous fabric from Knitorious!
