Amanda's in-progress Fiona! Can't wait to see it all together! |
No pretty pictures from me yet since I'm going to try to finish mine up tomorrow, but be sure to check in both the event and the main group page, some cute ones are starting to pop up!
Time now to finish it all up!
Step 10, 11, and 12 are finishing up the outside. Give your glue enough time to dry before you start sewing - I love Fabri-Tac, it holds great and if you do mess up, you can usually still pull it up for a good 15 minutes after you have put it in place (ask me how I know...)
Step 13 - The base - I really love using staples for round bottoms like this, it saves me SO MUCH anguish from little shifts and getting out of alignment! Just don't forget to remove them BEFORE you trim the seams!
If you've made it this far, take a deep breath, the hardest part is almost over! (Grommets are the scariest, not the hardest!)
Steps 14-16 are the interior and assembly. If you made it through the outside, this should be a cake walk! Just take your time stitching the top seam, you want it as straight as possible, so if you go a bit wonky, take the time to either stitch over it or rip and redo! Depending on your materials and sewing machine, the strap area might give you some grief, just take your time and lengthen your stitches (and use a denim or micro-tex needle). A hammer might come in handy too!
Depending on the flap/style you chose you will either do Steps 17 and 18 (grommets and small flap) OR step 19 (large flap). Amanda will be doing the grommets in her video, so be sure to check it out if you are intimidated!
All that's left is your strap! attach that and viola you are done!! Sit back and admire your handywork!
