WIP Wednesday - More Sugar & Spice! Plus Riveting tips

I will get this bag finished!  I'm actually taking my time sewing and not rushing for once.

This week I have the rivets to install, and then to start on the lining!

Sugar & Spice Sew along - Halfway week! (Week 3)

This weekend was pretty productive for me, and I only screwed up once!  My bag outside is 95% done - I forgot to put the rivets on, oops!  I have them marked and ready to go, so that will be the first step for this week.

WIP Wednesday - More Sugar and Spice!

Yes, still working on the Sugar & Spice purse...I'm taking my time and enjoying the ride.  ;)  Don't worry if you are still cutting and fusing, you've got 3 weeks left to finish and enter it in the FaceBook group to get prizes!!

Sugar and Spice Sew along, week 2 - Time to start sewing!!

Hopefully by now you have your pieces cut and fused and are ready to jump in and turn a pile of fabric into an awesome bag!  If you haven't done that yet, don't worry, you still have time to get it done.  -- but maybe you should go work on it instead of hanging out on the Internet...just a suggestion ;)

WIP Wednesday - Sugar and Spice Sew along!!

This week I'm hip deep in the sew along.  Well, more like ankle deep, but it's getting deeper fast!  So far I have the embroidery for the pocket finished and uh....3 pieces cut out?  I'd better get moving!!

Sugar & Spice sew along - Let's go! (Week 1)

Finally, it's time to start making our Sugar & Spice purse!

First steps for this week - choose your fabric and make sure you have the supplies.  It was a tough decision for me, but I finally settled on some pretty fabric I picked up at the local quilt shop.

(Dark grey will be the outside, white for inside, yellow for pocket lining and possible piping, if I get busy and make it)

2015 Goals. Finally.

I know most people traditionally set their goals and resolutions on January 1st and then by now have already given up, but I like to think about what I want to get accomplished.  And I'm a procrastinator, so it's not a surprise I haven't set them down in writing yet.  I'll even get started on them soon.  At least at the end of the year I can look back and think, "hey, I almost got that one done!"

UFO/WIP Wednesday #2

This is a busy week for me, I have a 'science' birthday party coming up this weekend so not working on anything except stuff for the party.  So far I have the party favor bags finished!  That's about it though.

Stella by Swoon - Diaperbag, overnight bag, or GIANT purse.

I have made a few purses and clutches for my sisters-in-law (sister-in-laws?) but this year I didn't know what they would like so I didn't plan anything special.  Then I got the news that there is a new nephew on the way and a request for a giant diaper bag like one she found on Etsy for $$$.  I showed her the Stella pattern, and she jumped on it!  This bag is rather large.  Very rather large.  Like "Birthday-Christmas-BabyShower gift" big. ;)

Sugar & Spice Sew Along - Prep Work!

I love Christine's patterns.  LOVE THEM!  Of the last 5 bags and purses I've made, only 2 weren't her pattern, and I couldn't wait to get them finished and go back to her stuff.  I constantly compared their instructions with hers and while there was nothing wrong with the patterns, I just really enjoy her pattern style.  When she decided to start a fan group on FaceBook, I cautiously accepted her offer to help out there, then I went crazy and decided to see if there was any interest in doing a sew-along.  This will be the first one I've ever joined/led, so hopefully it goes smoothly!  After a poll, the most requested purse ended up being the Sugar and Spice pattern.  This will start officially on January 12, but if you want to join, feel free to jump in at any time!  To join the group (which is for any of her patterns, not just the sew along!) request to join HERE.
