Supernatural Sawyer Satchel Bag - Knitorious Fabric and Cloudsplitter Designs

Messenger bags are one of the most basic style of bags I make, but I still buy different patterns to get the features I want. For the amazing fabric from Knitorious Fabric, I knew I wanted something with straps, or 'manly' looking, not just a basic bag. I found the Sawyer Satchel and it had everything I wanted: cool accent straps, pockets, more pockets, a zipper to close it, and good sized!

Just hanging out on a ledge

Back of the bag, so many awesome quotes!
This bag is actually pretty huge! If you took it to a convention, I think it would hold a ton of stuff and still look amazing. The Showtime round of fabric (and more amazing prints) is currently up for preorder until the 22nd! It's lots of great tv, movie, and play fabrics!
Pretty proud of that stitching, not gonna lie

Opened up, front cargo pockets
My fabric and panel are canvas, which makes it a sturdier bag, and it still has a nice and crisp print! I got the panel and almost a yard of fabric to promo, but it was not quite enough to cut ALL the pieces out for the huge bag. I found another random canvas in my stash that I thought worked, and didn't distract from the main print. The vinyl was a small scrap roll I found, not exactly sure where it came from either...

Inside, with slip pockets and pen slots, which really blend in

The other side with more slip pockets
See, I told you there were pen slots!

It's also nice and roomy!
The satchel has 2 front cargo pockets, a back zipper pocket, and more pockets inside! I skipped the lining zipper pocket, just to save some time since this was a quick turnaround. My vinyl was a thick one, so it did fight me a little in a few spots, and it was even too thick to go under my Sailrite machine if I had done all the vinyl layering it called for! I did switch to the Sailrite (hereafter known as the Dread Pirate Roberts) for the final topstitching and it handled it like a champ! If I had tried to do that with my Brother PQ1500SL, there would have been random skipped stitches and much hammering required.
Back in the light box, to really show off the colors

Cargo pockets

The straps have magnets to keep them closed, and they can flip up
The bag doesn't have a ton of hardware, just some strap connectors, magnets, and zippers. I decided to go with gunmetal and black for this bag, to fit the theme. The zipper pulls and zipper were the only custom pieces I used, and they came from Wizardry, Stitchery, and Crafts.

The gunmetal hardware is so pretty!

Be sure to check out the amazing designs now available for preorder at Knitorious before this round closes!

This bag goes great with PIE!
