I had two patterns to test back to back at the end of last year, and one of them was the new Calista Wallet from The Styled Magnolia. The wallet was actually really fast to make, and came together so nice! I think if I had used a cutting machine, it would have been even faster...but digging out the machine and finding room to set it up in my disaster of a sewing studio would have taken longer than it took me to hand cut!

| Sometimes you just need a fun vinyl print, with bright colors! |
For this wallet, I used a hero coordinate vinyl from my Backstitch stash, and some scraps of fabric originally from Joann's. I decided to try some new edge paint on this wallet, and the good news is that the busyness of the vinyl mostly hides my painting mistakes. We'll call those accents and claim it makes it obviously handmade. And quirky. Yes, that is a good description. 😉

The pattern comes with 3 different shapes for the exterior and then matches that shape inside for the ID slot window. I chose the domed shape since it was easy to hand cut and sew! The scallops are super pretty but would be a pain to cut by hand. (probably not that hard, I was just being lazy)

Inside, the wallet has 3 card slots, along with a clear ID pocket. There is no long cash pocket, but there is a space under the back zipper pocket where you could stick in some folded money. Since the tab is part of the zipper pocket, it does help to secure stuff in that little pocket.

The Calista also features a detachable wrist strap, if you use a gate ring for the connector. Or you could feed the split ring through the attachment tab directly and have it a little more permanent! This pattern uses the smaller zippers (#3), which I have a stash of them in random colors, but no fun zipper pulls--although I could add a charm!
This really is a super fast and cute wallet, and great for scraps! The part that took the longest was the edge painting, and I think with practice I could get faster at that (and also neater). Be sure to check out the Calista wallet pattern if you are looking for a fun little wallet!
