WIP Wednesday (or Thursday) - Slime Rancher Party Time!

This week's crafting is taking a back seat to the plans for a birthday party.  Since my kids have to be ahead of the trend, the theme for this one is "Slime Rancher"  which is a game they play on the computer.  I don't know much about it, other than they catch, raise, feed, and breed the slime to produce even more...slime.  At least they are cute!

Adorable Slime Rancher slimes...I'm pretty sure real slime is soft and cuddly, right?
One of my favorite embroidery designers (Kelly from Ohana Appliques) was able to help me out and she designed some adorable little stuffies!  Now I'm on a mission to make several colors of the minky (for the different types of slime of course!)  Hand sewing them shut is the final step, and hopefully it goes fast!
Galaxy Boon, the flap is even with the sides when it's pressed down, but the vinyl has some poof to it still.
Since I apparently can't stay on task, when there was a new pattern released last week, the Boon Wallet from By Needle and Thread, I had to grab it and jump the line to make one!  It's a fast and fun wallet, so I can see making a few for craft shows and etsy, as soon as I can set my craft area up again!

My very own leg.  I'm sorry/you're welcome  ;)
I threw a quick project into the mix last weekend, Peg Legs by Patterns for Pirates...actually a fast sew (took longer to tape the pattern together!) and even though I'm not usually a leggings person, I might be converted!  The Tardis stretchy fabric might have something to do with it...although it wasn't quite as stretchy as the pattern called for, so next time I'll add on maybe a 1/2 inch to make them looser.  They feel like wearing nothing tho...which is great for sleeping in!  ;)  Next up is making them in my custom knit fabrics...they do use a lot of fabric so a great stash buster!

  2. I just got that fabric for Peg Legs, and I'm a little worried about the stretch. When you say you want to add 1/2 an inch--do you mean adding it to the width?

I've never sewn Pegs before, btw. (Or with knits before!) Would you recommend that I make a size up from my measurements?

    1. If you have thunder thighs like I do, then you want to add in a bit to the width (or go up a size). They fit fine and I've worn them several times and washed them, without any holes but you can see the thread a little and they are definitely stretched out in the 'rear' area.

I'm going to try the higher waist band on the next pair, and not use this fabric for the waistband because it's not quite right for it. You want one with really good recovery, and this one is a little too loose, so my regular band falls down on my Mom tummy...if you are super fit and trim with a flat tummy, it would probably work fine.

One thing to note, you can always keep sewing it smaller if you make it too big to begin with, but you can't easily size up! For the shirts I've sewn, I have gone with my biggest measurement, then worked my way down until they are more fitted and less tent-like. I put them on inside out and pin the big spots to where I think I should sew and then try that. Good luck!

  3. Slime Rancher Party Time looks very entertaining. I am obsessed with the patterned leggings. They can make any outfit look unique and Stylish at the very same time. On my cousin’s 18th birthday I wore a classy white top with Polka dot leggings. My outfit was matching perfectly with the ambiance at her birthday event space NYC.
