Serendipity Hip Sew Along - Week 1

It's time to get started! Get your pattern cut out, read through the instructions one last time, and jump right in!

I can't wait to see all the great combos that everyone comes up with, it's always inspiring to see different takes on the same pattern.  I've decided that a sushi purse needed to be made, so this is the fabric I'll be using!  Don't forget to check in on the Facebook group, there will be random drawings throughout the sew along and prizes at the end chosen from all completed purses. Check in next week to see an announcement of what prizes will be up for grabs!
(Green accent and yellow for the interior!)

Before I can get started, I have to finish up one other purse but I should have it done in the next few days so I can jump in on this!  Here's some progress pictures of the purse that's holding me up, a Doctor Who Concealed Carry purse of my own design.  I can't decide what is more nerve wracking, cutting into Spoonflower fabric ($22 just for one yard with shipping!) or making my own design!  It's a simple purse, but that zipper pocket makes up for any 'easy' parts.  ;)

(My first time using an 'invisible' zipper on a purse.  It's kind of invisible. ish.)

(Finally remembered to put the "Handmade" bag bling on something!)

  1. Please post a tutorial on concealed carry purses, pleeeaassseee. It is the primary product I sell in my stores and my sewn purses are just about the only purses that are not concealed carry. I would love to learn how to sew that pocket!

    1. It took a LOT of trial and error, so if I make another one, I'll definitely try to do a tutorial! I just used a hidden zipper on each side and put it into the seam of the purse, which is a simple boxy style with a gusset. After I get feedback from the new owner, I'll probably have some tweaks to make and then I'll feel a little more confident about it being a 'real' concealed carry purse!

  2. Fabric chosen, cut, fused and ready to go! Love the fabrics in the purse you are working on! You need to publish your pattern. Lots of people want a concealed carry purse.

    1. Can't wait to see yours!

I'm not confident enough in my pattern making skills to do it as a published pattern, but I might try the pocket as a tutorial soon!
