Soot Sprite Diaper Bag - XOXO by Lauren Pattern Testing

Have you checked out XOXO By Lauren's patterns yet? Her Boon Wallet is super cute and fast, and the Brownie wallet is even faster!  I was excited to be chosen to test her new pattern, a mini diaper bag style pattern, the Soot Sprite!  (Bag pattern will release Friday!)
Is the song stuck in your head now? I've been singing it for DAYS.
Opened up, flap secures with 2 magnets
This pattern is PERFECT for child sized custom printed panels, and since I'm helping to promote the newest fabric round about to be released from Moonbeam Fabrics (affiliated link), it was a match made in Heaven!
Child sized panel, Wand motions coordinate, preorder opens Feb 1!
Back pocket has magnet to keep it closed!

Key keeper, I need to put this on all my bags!
The Soot Sprite features a large back slip pocket with magnet to help things stay inside, a little under the flap front pocket, and FIVE pockets inside, plus a key keeper!  The pockets are huge, made to hold diapers and bottles, or if you have no diapers or bottles left in your house, water bottles, snacks, yarn, lotion, and about anything else you want to try cramming inside!  The best feature of this bag, in my opinion, is the strap!  There are connectors to switch it up, so it can be shoulder or cross-body (adjustable strap) OR a backpack!!
2 mesh bottle pockets, 2 super deep slip pockets, 1 zipper pocket inside
Front small slip pocket, great for parking passes or bus passes?
Make sure your connector will fit through the D ring BEFORE you sew it all together...mine works with a bit of wiggling.

Backpack style
The flap is a cotton lycra child sized panel from Moonbeam, with one layer of SF101 on the back.  I think in the future I will cut the interfacing first and fuse it on, THEN cut the stretchy fabrics.  It works to cut it normal, but if your rotary cutter is the slightest bit dull, it can grab the fabric and stretch it as you try to get a nice clean cut.  I used a coordinate from the line, "Wand Motions," and some shimmery star fabric from Joann's to round out my fabric choices and stretch the strike offs I received.  (Still have 2 more projects to make with them!)  Color me Potter round will be available for preorder starting Feb 1!  The background looks like a chalkboard, which gives it a really cool texture look!
Batman approves since it's in his favorite color - Black.

This was my first time working with mesh pockets, and they were not as scary as I expected!  I found the fabric at my Joann's, but they only had black and white, so it's a good thing I was doing a black bag!
Mesh pockets are fun!

Gotta have snacks!
That was all inside...and I could probably have crammed in more.  I didn't even fill the outside pockets!
I could definitely see this as the perfect project bag, the pockets to hold a few smaller skeins of yarn and a water bottle, zippered pocket to hold hooks and stitch markers, back pocket for pattern and the key keeper to hold scissors...hmm, maybe I will keep this one for myself!
Shoulder/Cross body strap style
