Sew Along! - Factotum by ChrisW Designs - Prep Work

It's been a while since the last sew along!  For this one we'll be doing the Factotum by ChrisW Designs.  It was originally released last year in the Bag of the Month club, but now you can purchase it individually HERE.

I've never made this before, so it's going to be a fun ride as we all do it together! Join is in the Sew Along Group (FaceBook) for live videos (viewable later too!), help with your pattern, and other fun info!

For this weekend, read through the pattern, print the pattern pieces, and start gathering your supplies.  There are quite a few you will need, and hopefully you can be ready to go on Monday!  This is the list from the pattern website, so when you have the pattern, double check where it shows each fabric going so you can get the right colors and materials!  If you need to order hardware, there are some steps you'll be able to skip until it comes, but you will definitely need the zippers right away!

Materials:

*Exterior 1 - 112cm (44”) wide: 1.35m (1 ½ Yard)

*Exterior 2- 112cm (44”) wide: 45cm (1/2Yard)

*Lining fabric - 112cm (44”) wide: 2.3m (2 1/2Yard)

*Fusible woven interfacing: Pellon Shape-Flex SF101 - 51cm W (20” W). Substitutes are Vilene G700, Therm-o-web HeatnBond or DHJ501: 9.15m (10 yards)

*Soft & Stable or Pellon Flex Foam or Headliner: 56cm W X 33cm H (22” W X 13” H).

*Peltex 71F or Fast2Fuse or TimTex or Decovil: 66cm (26”) .

*Fusible Fleece such as Thermolam Plus or Vilene H640: 30cm (12”)

*Coreflute: 40.5cm W X 16cm H (16” W X 6 ¼” H)

*Matching thread (I have used Aurifil Cotton 40wt).

Notions:

*1 X #5 Handbag Zipper - 56cm (22") for Main Closure

*1 X Dress Zipper: 23cm (9”) for Front Zipper Pocket

*1 X Dress Zipper 35cm (14") for Interior Zipper Pocket

1 X 46cm (18") Dress Zipper for Hidden Zipper Pocket

*4 X 3.8cm (1 ½”) Rectangular Rings

*1 X Thumb Catch

*3 X Press Snaps

*4 X 12mm Bag Feet

*1 Metal Zipper End

*20 X Double Capped Rivets 9mm (Cap) X 8mm (Stem) OR Chicago Screws

*Other Requirements: Double Sided Wonder Tape (or Glue suitable for glue basting – I use Elmer’s Washable School Glue).

*Fray Stopper, Duct Tape, Hole Punches, Wonderclips, Second pair of Hands, Wine. Plus general sewing requirements
