Rugrats Pegasus (XOXO by Lauren)

Sometimes I get requests that surprise me.  I was never into the Rugrats cartoon, so I didn't get excited when they released fabric for it recently.  I've even seen some custom groups running prints now, which just goes to show that there's fabric for everyone!

This year definitely flew by!  I'd love to do a picture collage of everything I've sewn this year, but there were just too many!  Thanks to everyone that has supported me, and I hope you all are enjoying your purses, blankets, keychains, wallets, bears, llamas, lanterns, and everything else!

Lately my purses have been using the custom fabrics, so it was nice to go back to some using non-custom and add in a fun touch like embroidery!  The India by Swoon is a quick sew up, but still with tons of style!

WIP Thursday - Almost Time for Fun!

Definitely can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it's NOT attached to a train for once!  I still have a few more orders to get in the mail, but it's a manageable amount!

I love the fun panels that I can get from the custom fabric groups, but finding a way to use them for anything besides clothing can be a challenge!  The Siren Tote from XOXO by Lauren is PERFECT for the adult and big kid panels and is a fast sew (bonus!)

WIP Thursday - I survived!

I'm not done yet, but the craft show season has ended for me!  Now it's time to finish up all the orders, list up the extras from the shows, clean my house, decorate, organize my craft studio, make the stuff for my kids, work on the Factotum from the sew along, ....

Guess what time it is? New fabric time!!  The newest round at Moon Beam Textiles is totally awesome dragons!

I can't wait for the movie and to find out more about the white dragon! I'm probably more obsessed than my kids!

WIP Wednesday - Crunch Time

It's the final countdown to the craft show! I have tonight, tomorrow night, and Friday during the day to get a million things finished for the show!  Plenty of time!

WIP Wednesday - Almost Turkey Time!

I'm busy getting everything ready for tomorrow -- at least I no longer have to stash everything out of the way since it's all contained to my sewing/craft studio.  Except for the tubs and bags in our family room waiting for the next craft show.  (I'm not about to risk them in the basement where there is construction going on, besides all those stairs...)

Next order, only a minor panic attack as I was cutting since I only have one of the top panels!

This purse has been on my list for a LONG time, due to waiting for the fabric.  I preordered it, then had some issues getting it and finally found some on a buy/sell/trade group!  Fortunately the customer was super patient and REALLY wanted this exact fabric, so I hope she loves it!

WIP Thursday - Downhill Slide to Christmas

Today marks the halfway point of November, then the next thing I know it will be Christmas Eve!  I'm on track to have my orders all finished this month and mailed out, and I'm even fitting in craft show prep when I need a break from the purses!

Villains Snowdrop (Blue Calla)

There are some fabrics I see in my groups that I think 'ooh, that looks pretty cool, but I'm not sure it will be popular,' and then I either don't order, or only get a small amount.  When it comes, I'm usually blown away and instantly regret not getting more!  These villains are some of that fabric.  It looked vibrant on my computer, but almost too vibrant to be real...but it's even MORE amazing in person!

WIP Wednesday - The Eye of the Storm

I survived last week, where I was trying to get orders out on a deadline, prep for the craft show, do Halloween stuff and anything else people tossed at me.  I feel like I needed a bit of a breather, so I've been slowly working on the next 4 orders this week...although I really want to get them out!

I prefer to follow patterns because the good ones have figured out all the problem areas, have been thoroughly tested and there are usually several versions that others have made and I can use for inspiration.  I love the Hosta Hobo pattern from Blue Calla, her patterns are detailed enough to be eye catching and well written!

WIP Thursday. Or Friday, Whatever - November? Eek!

I survived October, barely.  Now it's the real crunch time, finishing up all the orders, preparing for the holidays, getting craft show stock, and maybe even decorating my house this year!  I did promise a child that we'd sew stuff for her in December, and the other kids have some requests that I've carried over from previous years...I'd better get started, one is leaving for college next year!

I ended up not getting into one of the craft shows I've done for the last few years, so I started scrambling to find something else to fill that time.  I found an event a week earlier that had openings, but now I'm trying to cram my 3 week plan of making into 2 weeks!!  I guess I'll sleep in January.

WIP Wednesday - Halloween ETA 2 WEEKS!

GAH! Once again Halloween snuck up on me!  I do have the fabric and a general idea for the smallest minion's costume, she wants to be a fox with wings.  It should just involve a hoodie with ears, maybe a detachable tail, and possibly pants.  Hopefully.  Of course she wants me to sew the hoodie, so time to find a pattern, print it out, and get to work!

Nightmare Necessary Clutch Wallet (Emmaline)

I love the style and many pockets of the Necessary Clutch Wallet, and after making a bunch of them, it's almost becoming easy!  I still manage to mess up the pocket folding half the time...but other than that, they come together quickly.

WIP Wednesday - Chilly Willisters!

Ok, not technically a saying, but I tell my kids that it's "Chilly Willisters" out when it gets cold.  Today there was even snow falling!  :O

The most plush blanket...both sides are soft so it just needs satin binding on the edge! or I'll use it like this!

WIP Wednesday - October (Cue Evil Laughter)

Mwahahahaha!  Although for me, the evil laughter has a slight tinge of panic in it.  My youngest is the only one that still gets/wants to wear a costume to school, and she hasn't decided what she wants to be yet...granted my usual costume plan involves them picking a costume in September, changing their mind 7 times, then settling on an obscure one in early October so that I can order supplies and procrastinate until the weekend before Halloween and then forgo sleep in an attempt to finish it.

Somehow Game of Thrones is one fandom I haven't gotten totally sucked into, but I'm sure if I ever have a chance to sit down and watch the show, that will change!  The few parts of episodes that I've seen were gorgeous and very interesting, but it's not really a show I could watch with kids running around or only half pay attention to while crocheting...someday I'll have time!

Did you know that there is less than 3 months until Christmas?  And barely more than a month until Halloween?  Once October starts, it's all downhill and will really pick up speed!

Time to take a break from accepting orders -- I need to catch up!  I'm so thrilled that I'm starting to get busy again and have lots of interest in my purses, but I need to either speed up my process, sleep less, or extend my turn around time because there's no way I can keep up if I don't!

The second fabric I receive from Moon Beam Textiles for the Reboot round is this gorgeous Wibbly Wobbly fabric.  The colors are dark, but still vibrant!

I have many groups I buy custom fabric from, so whenever they do an open call to play with their newest stuff, I throw my hat in the ring, cross my fingers, and hope I'll be chosen! I got really lucky with this one, my own house and it's super amazing!

I finally had some motivation during the holiday weekend and spent a few hours finding my cutting table again.  Good news, I found it!   Bad news, there were no magical gnomes or fairies hidden in there waiting to help me catch up on sewing.

I can't even express how excited I was to see this Moon Beam Textile fabric in person!  It's amazing and I think I need to hoard it ALL!  I don't usually make clothes, but I really want a hoodie in this fabric, maybe even a skirt, and I don't wear skirts!

Vintage Trek Lola (Swoon)

There are some patterns for purses that I see and they just don't really draw me in.  Lola from Swoon (aff link) was one that I saw and thought, "eh, it's nice but not that great." I have been proven WRONG!  This is now my new favorite purse, and I was eyeballing my fabric stash to figure out what the next one is going to be!

The pattern is subtle enough to pass as 'normal' but other Trekkers/Trekkies will get it instantly
